The Tax Free-Savings Plan is a great initiative from Government to encourage savings. It does not attract any tax and is structured in a cost-effective and transparent manner. You can save up to R30 000 per annum and R500 000 in a lifetime. Most insurers have started to bring out their product offering and I have included Discovery’s one pager and frequently asked questions for further reading. The one-pager includes a graph showing that over 20 years, an individual can save R63 283 by being in a tax-free investment versus a taxable investment.
